first pick your meat, i reccommend seitan.
marinate the seitan in a tablespoon of garlic powder and soy sauce.

take a bunch of spring onions(10), and sautee for about 5 minutes in 3 tablespoons of oil(i say the more the better).

when the onions are brown and crispy but not burned, take them out of the oil and put them on a paper towell to dry, but keep the oil in the pan. this provides an essential base.

then throw in 6 cloves of garlic into the oil and let cook for 2 minutes or so...
then throw in all the seitan and soy.... cook for a few minutes

then throw in 6-8 tablespoons of sugar and one tablespoon of white pepper....

after that i cut up a red pepper and throw it in and add hot peppers or whatever if you like spicy food...

let cook till the sugar and oil forms a sort of glaze, make sure not to overcook

stop cooking, throw the seitan on some rice, and sprinkle the onions on top.

well it doesnt really matter if you're vegan or not, you can make it with pork beef or chicken, its all about the sauce...

seed, there are other things out there with similar textures and flavors to meat...
if you gave up cheese, whouldnt you want something with that similar texture? sure the flavor is missed but alot of it is the texture... plus tofu tempeh and setitan are delicious, now wont you please be conscious with us?

its not THAT hard

im not one for fake meat. i think its overprocessed. seitan and tofu are good though, but for thsi recipe i dont think tofu has the proper consistency.

as far as why are vegetarians always wanting to eat fake meat? most vegetarians are doing so for health or ethical issues, and has nothing to do with not liking the taste. so thats why vegetarians would do such a thing, if you decide you dont want to eat meat anymore, it doesnt mean you wouldnt be psyched to be transported back to your favorite childhood meals for a moment of falsehood.

personally i usually dont go with fake meat, this was a traditional thai recipe that i replaced with seitan...

i am not big on fake meat either. i pretty much just strictly eat tofu and seitan. i too feel that they taste way overprocessed. especially like the boca burgers and shit. stuff taste like a factory, ughh. never have liked that.

seitan
tofu
beans
lentils
spinach
chickpeas

those are a few of the protein foods i like.
